Beyond Borders

Beyond Borders Imports was formed in October 2006 with one goal in mind—to offer versatility in wholesale product offerings to the retail furniture industry.

In a time where traditional and import stores are selling mass-produced manufactured furniture, Beyond Borders provides a unique and valuable alternative to the industry.

What we believe:

The craft of handmade furniture should be preserved.
(Our table legs fit on one table and one table only.)

Products should be reasonably and affordably priced.
(We like being able to afford our own furniture.)

Ordering requirements should be minimal.
(Who wants 10 of the same item anyway?)

A huge variety of products should be offered by one company.
(Or you can deal with 20 different vendors if you like ?)

New designs should continually be created and added to the furniture line-up.
(What can we say? We get bored easily!!)

What we offer:

Over 900 Indonesian furniture designs

Over 300 Indian furniture designs

12 paint colors

20 stains

8 types of wood
(Indonesian teak, reclaimed teak, mahogany, mungor, mango, sheesham, acacia, Indian teak)

Sustainable products such as bamboo,
abaca, etc.

Reclaimed items (old windows, doors, shutters, etc.)

Accessories from northern India, Bali,
and Mexico

One-of-a-kind pieces

Our philosophy is to provide products that add value and versatility to your retail store’s offerings. As retail store owners ourselves, we know the importance of meeting the immediate demands and needs of today’s consumer. We also are extremely aware of current trends in the furniture industry, and our ever-evolving business reflects just that. We are passionate about what we do; we care about you as customers and want to help your venture be successful as well.

Sharlene Boyle
Research and Product Development, Purchasing, Editor

Sharlene Boyle’s role in the company is to continually research the market, to determine the trends in furniture development, and to design new furniture lines to fill the needs. So far she is the only member of the Beyond Borders team who hasn’t left the country, but that will all change soon because… she is on her way to get a passport!!

Her interests are in further developing the line of accessories to include not only Indian and Indonesian items, but also more products from the Philippines, Turkey, Morocco, Mexico and Guatemala. With her dramatic flair and sense of style, Sharlene is always interested in adding new exotic “statement pieces” to the furniture line-up. She is also insistent about incorporating contemporary styles to the furniture lines that are already in place in the Beyond Borders catalog.

Additionally, she is interested in taking the company to a new level of “green” as eco-conscious designs and practices are put in place during the coming years. A goal of the company is to work on becoming a member of the Sustainable Furniture Council and to work toward healthier and safer practices in the Indonesian and Indian factories

Rebekah Dressler
Financial and Bookkeeping, Website and Catalog Development, Promotion and Marketing,
Overseer and Quality Control Guru of India Facility

Although Rebekah is the youngest member of the team, she keeps the company and her wayward partners on track. With her no-nonsense approach to business and her sharp analytical mind, she has been instrumental in developing the business to the point of steady, consistent growth. Financial matters and bookkeeping come easy to her, yet she has been consistently passionate about all other aspects of the business as well.

Rebekah has fervently worked to develop the catalog and website to the point where it functions well for customers and clients. As new products are continually being added, the catalog is ever-evolving and that gives Rebekah something to work on until midnight each night.

As overseer of the India facility, Rebekah makes several trips a year to work on development of new designs as well as quality control. While in India, she has traveled to other villages to develop accessory lines as well.
Constantly coming up with new ideas and new products and new this and new that sometimes causes her to collapse in international airports! Next time Rebekah will rest a little more during her hectic trips to India.

Rebekah smiles a lot, she laughs a lot, she practices the piano a lot…but mostly she works a lot.
